Milan chief Adriano Galliani admits their “interest is waning” in getting Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow before January.

The Japanese international has already agreed terms to join the Rossoneri after his contract expires on December 31, but they were also hoping to bring the move forward to this summer.

“If the club wants to give him to us, then we’ll sign him in August. If they don’t want to, which is within their rights, then Honda will arrive in January on a free transfer,” explained Vice-President Galliani.

He also admitted that “interest is waning,” as Milan must present their Champions League play-off squad by August 19.

It was reported on Friday that a new meeting with CSKA Moscow was not planned until after August 20.
