Monza CEO Adriano Galliani confirms Stefano Sensi will join from Inter pending a medical, but the deal for Verona defender Nicolò Casale ‘has collapsed.’

The club will have its first ever Serie A campaign after winning the Serie B promotion play-offs and there is absolutely no shortage of ambition.

Owned by former Milan President Silvio Berlusconi, Monza have been more active than anyone else on the Italian transfer market so far.

They have already officially signed Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno, Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia, Empoli striker Leonardo Mancuso, Benfica winger Pedro Pereira and CSKA Sofia defender Valentin Antov.

Sensi accepted a dry loan move for one season today and is set to have his medical on Friday.

“If he passes the medical on Friday, then Sensi will be our player. We agreed terms with both Inter and the player,” Galliani told Sportitalia.

However, he also confirmed that the apparently done deal for Verona defender Casale had been abandoned with the paperwork drawn up and medical planned.

“The Casale move collapsed about an hour ago.”

It’s reported it was a combination of his agent demanding extra bonuses and the player’s desire to join Lazio instead.
