Inter have agreed a deal for Monza wing-back Carlos Augusto to replace Robin Gosens, confirms Adriano Galliani. ‘Now the player just has to sign.’

There had already been reports for months that he was being lined up in case Gosens moved on and that proved to be the cast.

Today Gosens secured a €15m transfer to Union Berlin and hours later Monza CEO Galliani was spotted entering the Inter headquarters.

He spoke to reporters on the way out and confirmed it was a done deal.

“It is all done, the clubs have reached an agreement, now the player just has to sign,” said Galliani.

“It was what he wanted and he deserved this upgrade. There were other clubs who wanted Carlos Augusto, but he preferred Inter because they are in the Champions League.”

The transfer is believed to be a loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for €13m.

The 24-year-old Brazilian made his Serie A debut last term, contributing an impressive six goals and five assists in 35 games playing as an attacking left-sided wing-back.

Carlos Augusto is a product of the Corinthians academy and made the transfer to Monza in September 2020 at a cost of €4.2m.
