Galatasaray made an attempt to sign Italy international Nicolò Zaniolo on Tuesday, claim reports, but Roma turned down the offer.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the Turkish side made an approach after the transfer window had closed in the major European leagues.

The Turkish market remains open until February 8 and Italian sides can sell or loan out players, just not bring in any unless they are free agents.

It is suggested the offer was a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, but again Roma turned it down, just as they had with Milan and others.

The Giallorossi are determined to only sell Zaniolo on a permanent deal or at most with an obligation to buy that is not tied to any other circumstances.

Their price-tag also remains steady at €30m, essentially the same bid they had accepted from Bournemouth, but that Zaniolo rejected.

He is now out of the squad and sent an open letter urging Roma to attempt a reconciliation, though the club does not seem interested right now.

Zaniolo’s current contract only runs to June 2024.
