Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim might not be on the bench for the Europa League showdown with Lazio, as he was taken to hospital for a stomach problem.

This will be a head-to-head on Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico for the top of the group and therefore direct passage to the Round of 16 without going through a play-off against one of the third-place sides from the Champions League groups.

Terim is in doubt to even attend the match, however, as a statement from Galatasaray confirms he was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon due to a gastrointestinal issue he has been suffering from for the last three days.

The coach had several tests in Istanbul and was allowed a two-hour window this morning to watch training.

Terim had already been in hospital last year when he contracted COVID-19.

The 68-year-old is a Galatasaray legend, but also worked in Italy as coach of Fiorentina in 2000-01 and Milan briefly in 2001.
