After reports that Sassuolo defender Kaan Ayhan was on the verge of a move to Besiktas, it’s now reported that Galatasaray have swept in with a superior offer.

The Turkey international has dropped down the pecking order at the Mapei Stadium and remained on the bench throughout each of their last four Serie A games.

His contract runs to June 2024 and he is not part of coach Alessio Dionisi’s plans, so a January exit seems inevitable.

It had been suggested that Besiktas had a deal in place to snap up the former Schalke 04, Eintracht Frankfurt and Fortuna Dusseldorf centre-back.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim that Galatasaray have suddenly come in with an improved offer.

It will be a six-month loan at €500,000 with option to buy for a further €3m at the end of the season.

This remains a significant profit considering Sassuolo signed Ayhan from Fortuna Dusseldorf for €2.5m in September 2020.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia also report that Sassuolo are in advanced talks to exchange Georgios Kyriakopoulos with Bologna midfielder Emanuel Vignato.
