Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa confirms “I’ll return to Inter in January” and “then we’ll see what happens”.

The Brazilian joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2016, but he failed to make a single start and scored only once.

The forward, known as Gabigol, failed to break into the Benfica team during a loan spell, so he was sent back to Santos on a year long loan.

That expires at the end of this month, and the Peixe can’t afford to keep their top-scorer.

“I still don’t know what will happen with my future,” Gabigol said after being inducted into the Brazilian Serie A team of the season.

“I’ll return to Inter in January, I need to talk to Inter, to other clubs, and then we’ll see what happens.

“Right now I need to rest for a bit, my agents will think about it. I’m calm, I’ve shown what I can do so I’m very confident.

“Flamengo? I’m happy with the affection of the Flamengo fans, I’ve always said I’d like to play for Flamengo one day, but I don’t know when that will happen.”
