Gabriel Barbosa “is not happy and wants to be an idol at Inter. If he does leave, it’ll be for a club of the same level as Inter,” said his agent.

The Brazilian cost €29.5m from Santos at the end of a lengthy bidding war involving other Serie A, Premier League and Liga sides over the summer.

However, he has made only one competitive appearance for 16 minutes against Bologna.

“I said that he’s not happy because he’s not happy. He wants to play,” agent Wagner Ribeiro told Globoesporte.com.

“The problem is that so far he has not even been evaluated, because nobody can evaluate what you can do in 16 minutes.

“In my view he will become a starter at Inter, he just needs an opportunity. He is not like other players who are content to just pick up their wages and everything is fine. He wants to play and if he doesn’t, then he cannot be happy.

“He wants to become an idol and play in the Champions League.”

There have been reports of a loan deal in January for the likes of Pescara, Empoli or Spanish club Las Palmas.

“If he really has to leave, it’ll be for a club of the same level as Inter, but going out on loan would not be a good move.”
