Sampdoria forward Manolo Gabbiadini has reportedly returned to training after the surgery and targets a place in the squad against Fiorentina.

The 29-year-old has been out since mid-December with an inguinal hernia and underwent surgery to fix the problem.

Gabbiadini, who has previous spells with Atalanta, Juventus and Napoli, has only three appearances in Serie A this term.

The inguinal hernia has held the striker back since the start of the season, but Sky Sport Italia reports the centre-forward is back in training with the Blucerchiati.

The broadcaster claims he targets a return against Fiorentina on Sunday, as Gabbiadini warmed up with the rest of the group and carried out the following technical exercise, working on ball possession.

Sampdoria are 10th ahead of the match against the Viola and are looking to bounce back from a 1-1 draw with Benevento in their last match.
