“I was at Dimaro, it was time to sum things up with [Cristiano] Giuntoli and [Aurelio] De Laurentiis,” said Gabbiadini's agent Silvio Pagliari. “I'm always in touch with Manolo.

“We're ready to pick up the heritage of Higuain, a striker who did some great things. Manolo is ready to show what he can do and he doesn't feel he's worth less than any of the names being linked to Napoli.
“He was unfortunate in that he had a monster playing ahead of him, but let's not forget his goal-per-game ratio. And he had an ankle injury too.
“It's time to take this responsibility. If Juve paid that buy-out clause, it shows there are no strikers in the world like Higuain, but let's give credit to the whole team as well. The Argentinian finished the goals, but all of the lads deserve credit for them too.
“I'm pleased to see the love shown by the tifosi to Manolo, we're certainly bearing it in mind in our choices.
“His future doesn't depend on us, although we said we're happy to stay. For example, if [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic were to arrive, that would be one thing. But we don't feel inferior to any of the names currently being linked to Napoli.
“There's no buy-out clause for Gabbiadini, and frankly that's a contract stratagem that I don't like. To stay together, there must be a mutual desire. If the two parties want the same thing, then great things can be done.”
