But Gabbiadini said he hopes to continue working with the former Roma coach.

“I feel great with him, but the decisions are not up to me,” Gabbiandini told Il Secolo XIX. “In a year and a half together, I can’t complain about anything.

“There’s great esteem and respect, both for the coach and the man. I hope he says, but only the coach knows if it will be like this.”

The 29-year-old has struggled with inguinal hernia this season and said he doesn’t think about securing a place in Italy CT Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad for Euro 2020.

“I don’t think about it, I started late this season and honestly, I only think about doing well with Sampdoria,” he continued.

“We will try to reach Sassuolo, even if it’s not easy. I’m sure we will finish well."
