This week the striker’s representative complained that if he was going to be on the bench, he may as well leave the Stadio San Paolo.

“I am not surprised, as in football people talk too much,” explained President De Laurentiis on Sky Sport Italia.

“I am not surprised, as in football people talk too much,” explained President De Laurentiis on Sky Sport Italia.

“Silvio Pagliari didn’t want the player to start pre-season training early. He said that Gabbiadini was tired, but Maurizio Sarri wanted to get to know him and prepared a careful warm-up strategy.

“Sarri is the only one who can control these situations. Pagliari wanted to send a message to Sarri, but these words are a waste of time.

“Agents know that they need to keep their mouths shut. It was a nasty tackle. Silence is often more productive and confirms that perhaps discussing things out loud weakens an argument.

“We were like referees who chose not to sanction his behaviour. Silence is very productive.”
