Milan defender Matteo Gabbia said the injury setback ‘slowed me down in a period when I was playing with continuity’.
The 21-year-old centre-back started the season well with the Rossoneri but after having missed three games due to coronavirus in October and November, he suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in December.
Gabbia has played seven times in Serie A this term and returned after six straight games on the bench in the 1-0 defeat against Napoli on March 14.

“It was a particular period,” Gabbia said at a press conference. “The injury slowed me down in a period when I was playing with continuity.
“But I was lucky enough to play against Napoli and I had good sensations. I’m ready to give my contribution.”
Gabbia also spoke about Genoa forward Gianluca Scamacca, who is his teammate at the Azzurrini.
“We are talking about a very strong forward who is developing a lot,” Gabbia said. “We are happy to have him in our group.
“He will give us a big hand in these three games. We are very competitive in the attacking department."
