Furious Juventus players feel they play ‘against everything and everyone’

Juventus players are furious that a penalty appeal was not even evaluated by the VAR against Sevilla on Thursday and feel they are playing ‘against everything and everyone,’ said Federico Gatti’s father.

Juventus picked up a 1-1 draw against Sevilla on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals. Gatti scored a late equaliser, but the Bianconeri were left furious by a penalty kick appeal ignored by VAR and the referee.

According to Saturday’s printed edition of Tuttosport newspaper (page 2), players were furious inside the dressing room and did nothing to hide their frustration with Adrien Rabiot showing off the damage from a nasty tackle of Loic Badé inside Sevilla’s penalty area.

The disappointment of Juventus players was evident and confirmed by Gatti’s father, Ludovico, in an interview with the Turin-based paper.

“They feel they are playing against everything and everyone,” he said.

“Many young players suffer in the most difficult moments and when I see the disappointment in their eyes, I also feel bad.”

Juventus currently sit second in the Serie A table, but their involvement in the 2023-24 Champions League remains uncertain, as a new point deduction could hit the club in the coming weeks. There are currently two FIGC investigations ongoing which may lead to further point penalties for the Bianconeri.
