Frosinone goalkeeper Stefano Turati has been suspended for one league match after being caught swearing by TV cameras during his side’s 3-1 loss against reigning Serie A champions Napoli on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old stopper was not sent off at the time of the incident, which took place in the build-up to a first half Napoli corner, but has been retrospectively punished by the country’s sporting judge.

The “blasphemous expression” was picked up both on camera and microphone, meaning that his words were easily identifiable and left “no reasonable doubt” according to the official match report.

Despite having taken the lead through a seventh minute penalty, Frosinone were soon dealt a reality check by last season’s Scudetto winners.

Matteo Politano found the equaliser after 24 minutes, before Victor Osimhen got off the mark with an emphatic brace, scoring in the 42nd and 79th minutes.

Turati will now miss Frosinone’s next league fixture, which falls on Saturday evening against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta, kicking off at 17.30 BST.

Frosinone have also been handed a €4,000 fine as a club for projectiles that were thrown onto the pitch during the Napoli clash.
