Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring a number of players he knows well to Lazio in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Biancocelesti are preparing to overhaul their squad at the end of the season and they plan to sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in order to fund the vital work. The 63-year-old Italian coach was furious with the club’s miserable January transfer window, so he’s expecting to be impressed in the summer.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sarri is hoping to bring a number of his loyalists to Rome in the summer, starting with left back Emerson Palmieri, who is currently on loan at Lyon from Chelsea.

Another player on that list is Everton midfielder Allan, whose contract expires in 2023. Dries Mertens is also in Sarri’s sights; the Belgian forward’s contract is expiring with Napoli and he’d like to stay in Italy, so a deal seems fairly accessible.

Finally there’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Sarri is a big fan of the English midfielder and believes he’d be the perfect replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, meaning a deal can only take place if the Serbian is sold.

2 thought on “From Mertens to Loftus-Cheek: Sarri wants familiar faces at Lazio”
  1. Emerson and Mertens seem possible but absolutely no way Luftus Cheek would come even to Italy in general, never mind Lazio. English players only want to play in England.

  2. Sarai has two serious issues,
    1. Doesn’t know how to defend
2.. No tactical change based on the situation
