Inter director Piero Ausilio met with his Barcelona counterparts earlier this week to discuss the upcoming summer transfer window, and one point of discussion was defenders.

The Nerazzurri are preparing for an important summer transfer window, needing to pick up a number of players across the pitch including a new striker to replace Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku and a new centre back to replace Paris Saint-Germain bound Milan Skriniar.

Inter have qualified for the Champions League semi-finals after securing a quarter-final win over Porto, giving them a little more resources to work with in the summer.

As reported by Catalan newspaper Sport, Ausilio discussed a number of possible defensive options with the Barcelona directors, including Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti, two players currently out on loan at Tottenham and Lecce respectively.

Another defender mentioned at the meeting was 22-year-old Eric Garcia, who is seemingly being shown the door in Catalonia. Jordi Alba was brought up, but the veteran’s wages are likely too high for the Nerazzurri.
