Mateo Retegui’s explosive start with the Azzurri has shot him to prominence and talks are now ongoing with clubs across Europe, including Inter.

The 23-year-old Argentine-born striker was a surprise call-up by Roberto Mancini for Italy’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers, but he did not disappoint as he scored in both of his outings with the national team.

Retegui has rapidly risen to become one of the more intriguing players ahead of this summer’s transfer window and an auction is brewing in Europe for the Tigre striker.

Corriere della Sera details how Retegui’s father and agent Carlos met with Eintracht Frankfurt directors on Sunday and also was in contact with Bayer Leverkusen.

Today, Retegui senior will travel to Italy to speak to Inter, who have been following the striker for a long while now and would like to finally make the move this summer.

Lazio are also interested in the Argentine-Italian striker, who seems destined to make the jump to Europe at the end of the season.
