Many top players in Serie A have entered the last six months of their contracts, from Paulo Dybala to Franck Kessié. Check out the latest updates regarding their future.

Dybala, Kessié, Marcelo Brozovic and Andrea Belotti are the standout Serie A players who are eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement from January.

If they reach an agreement with a different club, they can complete a free transfer at the end of the season.

Football Italia looks at the situation of Serie A players who see their current deals expire in six months.

Paulo Dybala

Dybala has reached an agreement with Juventus, but he hasn’t yet signed his contract due to bureaucratic issues and won’t put pen to paper on a new deal before February. Juventus are confident that the striker will extend his stay at the club and Dybala wants to stay at the Allianz Stadium.

However, not having signed a new deal yet, any club could contact him, trying to reach an agreement without Juventus’ consent.

He had agreed to sign a new €10m-a-year deal including add-ons, until 2026, but the Bianconeri could decide to change the terms of the agreement.

Franck Kessie

Kessie’s stay in Milan is unlikely. Despite being on a €2.2m-a-year deal at San Siro, the Ivorian has rejected a €6.5m contract offered by the Rossoneri.

His agent has requested a new salary of at least €8m per season, but Milan won’t offer as much.

Tottenham are reportedly in pole position to secure his services as a free agent at the end of the season, but Liverpool and PSG are also keen on the 24-year-old.

Andrea Belotti

The Torino captain is expected to leave his club in June. Toro president Urbano Cairo has recently confirmed that the 28-year-old will likely leave at the end of the season.

“I think Belotti will leave Torino without letting us earn anything,” Cairo said in an interview with La Stampa earlier this week.

Belotti has been linked with a move to Milan. but Toronto FC are also among the clubs monitoring the striker. The MLS side will likely sign Lorenzo Insigne and Genoa captain Domenico Criscito in the summer.

Lorenzo Insigne

His time at Napoli seems to be over. The Partenopei have offered him a lower salary than his current €3.5m-a-year deal, while Toronto FC offer him €5.7m net per season, plus add-ons.

Insigne’s agent Vincenzo Pisacane said in December that the 30-year-old should have considered moving to another continent to avoid facing Napoli in any competition in the future.

Toronto FC directors are expected in Italy this week to finalise his signing. Domenico Criscito is also expected to follow Insigne in Canada at the end of the season.

Marcelo Brozovic

The Croat is still in talks over a new deal at Inter and the Nerazzurri are confident that the 29-year-old will extend his stay at San Siro.

Brozovic rejected Inter’s opening contract offer and has requested a salary in the region of €6m.

He is one of the hottest commodities on the market and Tottenham coach Antonio Conte would be eager to reunite with the Croatia international in 2021-22.

Inter will likely raise their offer trying to meet the player’s demands and expect a final decision by the end of the month.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Swede has been struggling with injuries this season but has scored seven goals in 15 appearances across all competitions with the Rossoneri.

He is Milan’s highest earner with a €7m-a-year salary. His future at the club is still uncertain, but the Rossoneri are aware of the striker’s importance on and off the pitch.

There will be more chances to see Ibra extend his stay at the club if Sweden qualify for the 2022 World Cup through the play-offs in March.

Alessio Romagnoli

The Milan captain is on a €5m-a-year deal at San Siro, but the Rossoneri will likely offer him a lower salary.

Romagnoli is happy to stay at Milan and the Rossoneri will soon discuss his future with his agent Mino Raiola, the same as Ibra.

Federico Bernardeschi

The Juventus winger is currently getting €4m-a-year at the Allianz Stadium, but Juventus will likely offer him a lower salary.

The Italy international has recently changed his agent, swapping Mino Raiola with Federico Pastorello.

Juventus will open talks with the player’s representative this month but could try to sell the former Fiorentina man if they don’t reach an agreement for his extension.

Ivan Perisic

Inter will open talks with the Croat, but his stay seems unlikely.

The Nerazzurri have already identified possible replacements for the 32-year-old, from Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic to Everton’s Lucas Digne. The former Roma defender is an option for January, while Kostic could join Inter in the summer.

Juan Cuadrado

The Colombian has already reached an agreement with Juventus. The Bianconeri offered him a €5m-a-year deal until 2023 with an option to extend for a further season. Only the announcement is missing.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

His future at the Stadio Olimpico is up in the air. The Giallorossi haven’t yet opened talks over a new deal, but the 32-year-old is one of the regular starters under José Mourinho with 23 appearances across all competitions this season.

  1. Kessie will be a big loss. Both financial and on the pitch. To Insigne I say good luck. Have a great time in beautiful Canada and I’m sure many others would do the same given the chance.
Inter should try and keep hold of Brozovic – he would also be a loss. Or at least get some money.
