Inter and Chelsea fans react to the news that Romelu Lukaku will return to Inter after just one season at Chelsea: ‘From childhood club to childhood club…’

The Belgium international will return to the Stadio Meazza on loan, less than a year after his €113m move to Stamford Bridge. He struggled to justify his price tag under Thomas Tuchel, scoring 15 goals in 44 appearances with the Premier League giants.

Chelsea fans have never really loved Lukaku, especially since his interview in December when he apologised to Inter fans for the way he left, saying that he wanted to return to the club at the peak of his career.

On the other hand, most Inter fans on social media are ready to welcome their ex-striker with open arms after seeing him score 64 goals in 95 appearances during his two-year spell under Antonio Conte.

Lukaku had justified his move to Chelsea a year ago, saying a return to Stamford Bridge was an opportunity he could not turn down. However, he didn’t take long to understand that the Blues were not the right place for him and pushed to return to Inter for several months.

  1. I’m happy for Big Rom, but as sceptical and pessimistic fan I say: what if Lukaku doesn’t repeat himself at Inter? What if he scores 10 or less goals all season? What if he, as cause of pressure, starts to miss penalties? 😛

  2. The big game choker is back. He’s come back to Inter to score 3 against Salernitana. Complete dud – fails at the big clubs in the EPL, fails in Europe. Hilarious that they have brought the judas back, but then again Inter never had any self esteem as a club.

  3. Come on Frankie, your beloved Juve also welcomed back Bonucci from Milan, which are much more of a rival than Chelsea to Inter. Furthermore Bonucci had been staying much longer in the club as part of BBC. After such betrayal now he’s back as Juve’s captain. What would you say about that huh.
Lukaku might choose money over loyalty, but well he’s just being professional. He’s not even Italian. And well his sale made so much profit for Inter.

  4. @frankie While people like you see players like Lukaku as a “Complete dud”, the rest of us see him as a striker who knows how to capitalise on shoddy defending. Take Inter last season dropping points away to Genoa, Torino and Bologna. In both seasons where they had Lukaku upfront, Inter won the same fixtures and Lukaku scored in all 6 games – 8 goals in total. Lukaku is a quality player who needs a manager that will utilise him properly to get the best out of him.

  5. @Rian Bonucci left because of problems with someone at the club. After they arched it up he was allowed to return. So you are not alright on that!!!!

  6. @CS, Really? is that reasoning a fact or a subjective opinion? You can always find 1001 reasons to justify it. The fact is Bonucci was paid much higher salary in Milan and was immediately made a captain. He even celebrated when scoring against Juve for Milan! Which I believe Lukaku would never do.

After his weakness is exposed without Chiellini, he ran back to Juve with tail between his leg.
