Massimiliano Allegri, Fabio Capello and Milan legends Paolo Maldini and Dejan Savicevic were among the Italian football personalities attending Silvio Berlusconi’s funeral on Wednesday.

The former Milan and Monza President died on Monday and his state funeral took place today, Wednesday, June 14 at Milano’s Dome.

It was attended by many of his former players and coaches at Milan and Monza. The Brianzoli captain Matteo Pessina arrived at the Dome alongside Adriano Galliani and other club directors.

Milan legend Zvonimir Boban was also at the funeral. Dejan Savicevic drove 1,200 km from Podgorica and reunited with his former teammates Franco Baresi, Demetrio Albertini and Mauro Tassotti. Current Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani and President Paolo Scaroni were also seen in front of the Dome before the beginning of the funeral service.

Former Milan player and Monza coach Giovanni Stroppa told Sky Sport Italia: “There was a private relationship which was fantastic and went beyond football. I was lucky enough to see a new era at Milan, when Berlusconi arrived, he changed Milan’s expectations.”

Among Milan’s former coaches were Massimiliano Allegri, Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello.

Inter President Steven Zhang, alongside Beppe Marotta, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito and NaNapoli’surelio De Laurentiis also paid tribute to Berlusconi at Milan’s Dome.

Correction:

Reports in Italy had claimed Paolo Maldini also attended, but the ex-Milan defender and director was not at the Dome on Wednesday.
