Torino flattened fellow Serie A club Monza 4-1 in their final friendly test, while Lecce saw off NK Varazdin.

The Serie A fixture list resumes from January 4, so these are the closing experiments before the Italian teams are back in action after a lengthy break for the 2022 World Cup.

It was an all-top flight affair at the U-Power Stadium and hosts Monza were stunned 4-1 by Torino.

Nikola Vlasic made his return after Croatia’s World Cup campaign and immediately showed he’s in good shape with two goals.

Before that, Marlon had accidentally turned into his own net and Mergim Vojvoda’s splendid curler found the far top corner.

Monza only got one back with Gianluca Caprari from the penalty spot, but did have another start for Pablo Mari, working his way back to fitness after he was stabbed in a supermarket attack in October.

Elsewhere, Lecce beat Croatian side NK Varazdin 2-0 at the Stadio Via del Mare thanks to an early brace from Joan Gonzalez.

There were touching scenes before kick-off, as Varazdin vice-president Davor Vugrinec is a former Lecce player and he saluted the fans.

Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino also received an award marking his 600 Serie A games between Lecce, Fiorentina and Bologna.
