The Friedkin family, the owners of Roma, will not listen to the protests against Jose Mourinho, keeping faith in the coach despite the team’s miserable start to the season.

The Giallorossi were a whisker away from winning the Europa League last season, falling to tournament experts Sevilla in a penalty shootout. Despite the low investment into the squad over the summer, hopes were high that Roma could finally break back into the top four this season.

Things have not gone to plan in the Italian capital. Roma have only picked up five points from their opening six league games, leaving them 16th in the table, seven points behind fourth place Atalanta. Fans have started to lose patience with Mourinho, sparking tensions in the Eternal City.

As reported by Tuttosport via TMW, the Friedkins have not given up on Mourinho yet and still believe he can turn things around at Roma, so are not planning to replace the coach any time soon.

The Portuguese coach has been widely criticised for various reasons by fans, such as the team’s negative style and injury crisis. Others have also suggested that this is another example of the now-infamous ‘Mourinho third season’ curse.

  1. Friedkins can’t expect Roma to win anything with such a mediocre squad, it’s like asking Verstappen to win F1 races in a city car. Again, aside from his controversies & boring strategy, Mou isn’t entirely to blame.
