Former Inter goalkeeper Sebastian Frey has praised new Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan. ‘He has character and is explosive, he’ll do well’.

Milan have replaced Italy goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma with Maignan, who arrives from LOSC Lille ahead of 2021-22.

Frey, who spent 15 years in Serie A with Inter, Verona, Parma, Fiorentina and Genoa, believes the Goalkeeper of the Year in Ligue 1 will impress at San Siro too.

Official: Milan sign Maignan

“He was named the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1,” Frey told Sky Sport Italia. “He had a great season.

“I like him, he has great personality. After leaving PSG, he got back into the game and expressed all his qualities.

“In my opinion, he will be able to do well at Milan. He has character and is very explosive. I’m curious to see him in Italy, he’s the second French goalkeeper to arrive in an important Serie A team.

“I hope he does well.”
