Napoli kept packing the midfield and making it more and more difficult for us to find the space to attack. We’ll analyse it in training and make adjustments for the second leg.

“We’re aware that we could go out with a score draw in the second leg, but we are happy to be playing it on our own turf and ready to get the victory.

“It’s a packed fixture list with a lot of games that use up your energy, but we have a big squad at Atalanta, we can rotate regularly and keep everyone fresh.”

Freuler was asked if Atalanta are already looking forward to their Champions League Round of 16 tie with Real Madrid on February 24.

“We care about the Coppa Italia and want to be fully focused on this tournament, plus there’s a game with Torino in Serie A too, so there’s plenty of time to start thinking about Real Madrid.

“We’re in the running for all these tournaments and I don’t want to choose just one, we can have our say in all of them.”
