Freuler: ‘I don’t like the new Coppa Italia’

The Orobici have qualified for the Coppa Italia Final and will play Juventus at the Mapei Stadium tomorrow, but Freuler is worried about the format changes from next season.

The tournament had been open to Serie C and even Serie D teams from the earliest stages, but now only 40 clubs will participate, all of them from Serie A and Serie B.

“I don’t like it,” Freuler said, according to TMW. “Everyone was against the Super League, then they exclude the teams from Serie C.

“Thus, the dream of the smaller teams, which is the engine of the sport. You must arrive at the finish line with merit, not by right.”
