Davide Frattesi has revealed why he opted to sign for Inter during his first interview with the club’s internal media channels immediately after his signing was made official on Thursday evening.

The 23-year-old pointed to a number of factors, including his previous experiences playing at San Siro and the compliments he received earlier in the 2022-23 season from Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta.

Sat in Inter’s trophy room at the club’s headquarters in Milan, Frattesi told the cameras: “You only have to turn around to understand how big this club is.”

He then continued by detailing why he decided to join Inter, despite reported interest from most of the ‘top’ clubs in Italy.

“It all started a year-and-a-half ago when we played against Inter at San Siro,” he said. “I was struck by the fans and the stadium that day. That was definitely very important for me, so I didn’t think twice when I was presented with this opportunity.”

Frattesi was later asked about the praise he had earned from Marotta, responding: “It was exciting because receiving compliments from an executive of that calibre is an important bit of recognition. That was also a factor in my choice”.

Frattesi was also determined when explaining his personal ambitions for the team heading into the 2023-24 campaign.

“To start off with, I hope to win some trophies, that’s for sure. I will bring my commitment, seriousness and hopefully some goals too.

Speaking of his new teammates, Frattesi added: “They’re all very good guys. I’ve known Alessandro Bastoni for a long time because we’ve done the whole process of the national youth teams together. I can’t wait to be his partner at club level as well.”

“As an opponent, (playing at San Siro) was difficult, but as an Inter player it will be a further level of motivation. I can’t wait to score a goal and celebrate under the curva.”
