These France vs. Morocco predictions have the World Cup holders as strong favourites ahead of what promises to be an intriguing semi-final. The Atlas Lions have been the surprise success of the tournament – but this may be one step too far for the underdogs.

France vs. Morocco odds

1 – France to win – 11/20

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 13/19

3 – Both teams not to score – 8/13

4 – Olivier Giroud to score – 15/8

5 – France to win the World Cup – 8/7

France take on Morocco on Wednesday looking to progress to a second consecutive World Cup final. Only two other teams – Brazil and Italy – have won successive tournaments, but Les Bleus are now favourites to do so.

Morocco have already achieved their own piece of history, as they are now the most successful African team to have played in the World Cup. Walid Regragui’s side have drawn plaudits for their organisation and dedication throughout the campaign and will be keen to keep their dream alive.

Unfortunately for the Atlas Lions, France are likely to pose the toughest test yet. Not only are Didier Deschamps’ team in better form than Morocco’s previous opponents, but Regragui has seen his squad depleted by a number of key injuries. As a result, we back the hosts to win in 90 minutes on Wednesday.

That being said, it is unlikely to be an easy game for the current World Cup holders. Morocco currently boast the best defensive record in the competition, with their only goal conceded coming from one of their own players. A bet on either under 2.5 goals scored or on just one team to score in the semi-final could very well pay off.

Regragui will most likely set his team up with a deep defensive line, looking to nullify the pace of Kylian Mbappe. However, as proven against England, France have much more in their locker than just their talisman, with the likes of Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann effective at breaking down any defence. The Milan forward’s game suits a slower match and he is our tip to score anytime on Wednesday.

France have the opportunity to fix a relatively poor run of results since the last World Cup and seem to have restored the confidence that saw them win in 2018. If Deschamps’ side are able to get past this resolute Morocco side they could well go on to lift the trophy once again.

France team news

Few changes are expected from Didier Deschamps ahead of Wednesday’s clash, with no injury concerns to report. The manager may look to bring a more pacey, attacking option in at right-back in order to nullify Morocco’s quick counter-attacks.

Morocco team news

Morocco will now miss both of their first choice centre-backs through injury, with Nayef Aguerd and Romain Saiss both ruled out. Walid Cheddira will be suspended for Wednesday’s game having been sent off against Portugal. Noussair Mazraoui is also a doubt, but may look to play despite an injury.
