Inter secured a 1-0 victory over Juventus in a tense Derby d’Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport highlights four things that worked well for the Nerazzurri at San Siro.

A Federico Gatti own goal allowed the Nerazzurri to take all three points against their harsh rivals Juventus on Sunday night, moving four points clear of the Bianconeri at the top of the Serie A table with a game in hand.

Monday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, on pages eight and nine, analysed the Nerazzurri’s performance, highlighting four things that worked well for the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Meazza.

Defence

Simone Inzaghi’s men kept another clean sheet, their 14th in 22 Serie A games. ‘This team knows how to defend better than anyone else,’ noted journalist Filippo Conticello.

Reserves

All players who were introduced from the bench gave their contribution, as Inzaghi highlighted during a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia last night. Carlos Augusto, Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries had the right attitude and contributed to Inter’s win.

Attack

Inter created several goal-scoring opportunities even if their captain and best scorer Lautaro Martinez was not on his day. ‘This is the best signal for Inzaghi in the race for the second star,’ noted Gazzetta.

Midfield

The central midfield is Inter’s ‘heart’ wrote Gazzetta and this is no longer a surprise. Calhanoglu was praised by the pink paper that wrote the Turkish star improves in every game.
