La Gazzetta dello Sport analysed Juventus’ performance in their 1-0 loss against Inter highlighting four things that didn’t work for the Bianconeri at the Stadio Meazza.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men are now four points below table leaders Inter, but the Nerazzurri have a game in hand, so they will move seven points clear of the Old Lady if they beat Atalanta at home later in February.
The Juventus tactician was clearly disappointed following last night’s loss but insisted that the Bianconeri have not been built to win the Scudetto this season, while Inter’s project starter “many years ago with Antonio Conte.”
It was surely a disappointing display from the Bianconeri at San Siro last night, so La Gazzetta dello Sport analysed on Monday (pages 10 and 11) four things that didn’t work for the Old Lady.
Counter-attacks
Allegri’s plan was clear, wrote Gazzetta. Sit deep and counter-attack. However, the Bianconeri put their plan into practice only once in the first half when Dusan Vlahovic wasted a goal-scoring opportunity with a poor first touch.
Vlahovic and Yildiz
The Juventus strikers were ‘too often’ isolated and didn’t link up in the final third, struggling to cope with the Inter defender’s physicality.
Reserves
Timothy Weah, Federico Chiesa and Fabio Miretti lacked quality and consistency to hurt the Nerazzurri.
Not clinical
Juventus have always made the most of the chances created this season, but it was a different story last night. Vlahovic wasted a big opportunity in the first half and Juventus only produced one shot on target in 90 minutes, a negative record for them this season.
