Four striker alternatives if Roma lose out on Scamacca

Roma are still in search of a new striker to bolster Jose Mourinho’s attacking options following the injury to Tammy Abraham, but the Giallorossi may have to start looking for alternatives if they are unable to sign Gianluca Scamaca from West Ham.

Scamacca has been linked with a move to Roma all summer and would like to return to Italy after an uneventful first season in the Premier League, however, fresh interest from Inter reported on Sunday afternoon may have complicated proceedings.

Roma have been pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy, which could become mandatory based on appearances and Champions League qualification.

Inter could offer a deal that is more suitable to West Ham, and Calciomercato.com believes that they could now be considered as the frontrunners to land Scamacca.

If Roma are unable to strike a deal for the former Sassuolo forward, Calciomercato have mentioned four other names that Tiago Pinto and co could look at instead.

Firstly is Alvaro Morata, who is reportedly admired by Mourinho and has a solid relationship with Paulo Dybala from their time spent together at Juventus

It will require €21m to snatch the Spaniard away from Atletico Madrid, which would only be possible if Roma are able to sell Roger Ibanez for a decent fee this summer.

Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also cropped up in conversations, although Everton would also request a hefty fee for the England international.

Mbala Nzola of Spezia is another option and is already a known quantity in Serie A, having registered 13 league goals from 31 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.

Lastly, Calciomercato also mention Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia, who currently has a €25m release clause in his contract. That clause will soon expire, however, leaving room for Roma to negotiate with the Granata.
