Former Napoli and Hellas Verona goalkeeper Claudio Garella has died aged 67, multiple reports in Italy claim.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport report the former goalkeeper died in Turin this morning.

Garella was part of the Hellas Verona squad that won the only Scudetto in their history in 1985. He added to his trophy cabinet a Serie A title and one Coppa Italia with Napoli in 1986-87.

He also played for Torino, Lazio and Udinese in Serie A, Novara, Sampdoria and Avellino in Serie B.

After the end of his playing career, he became a goalkeeper trainer, a director and a scout for Pecetto Torinese (Promozione) and Canavase in Serie D.

His former clubs Napoli and Verona will meet in their Serie A opener at the Stadio Bentegodi on Monday.
