Former Milan man Nocerino to be Miami FC coach

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino will become the new coach of Miami FC, consolidating a bond with the Rossoneri.

The 38-year-old had a lengthy and well-travelled career in football, representing the likes of Juventus, Genoa, Milan, West Ham United, Torino, Parma and Orlando City before retiring at Benevento in 2018.

Nocerino started work in management at the Orlando City academy in 2020, then became the coach of the Potenza youth team for the 2022-23 season.

It is therefore quite a step up for Nocerino to become manager of Miami FC, although they are in the USL Championship, the equivalent of Serie B to MLS.

Their season concluded last month with ninth place in the USL under interim coach Lewis Neal.

Nocerino’s presence will further consolidate the bond between Miami FC and Milan, which began when the club was first founded in 2015 by RedBird investor Riccardo Silva and Rossoneri legend Paolo Maldini.

Their first coach was Alessandro Nesta, then another ex-Milan player in Luca Antonelli was also on their bench.
