Perù and Brazil qualified for the Copa America semi-finals thanks to decisive goals from former Milan flops Gianluca Lapadula and Lucas Paquetà.

The two sides will meet in the semis on Monday after securing victories against Chile and Paraguay.

Paquetà came off the bench after the break to score the winner for the Seleçao in a match that saw Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus sent off for a dangerous kick on Eugenio Mena in the second half.

The 23-year-old joined Milan in a €38m move from Flamengo in January 2019, but left the club one year later, moving to Lyon for €20m in January 2019.

The Brazilian starlet managed one goal and three assists in 44 appearances with the Rossoneri.

Lapadula, 31, scored a brace in Perù’s win over Paraguay, but La Blanquirroja needed penalties to qualify for the semis after a 3-3 draw.

Lapadula was born in Turin to a father from the Puglia region of Italy and a Peruvian mother.

He joined Milan from Pescara in a €10m move in 2016, but managed just eight goals in 29 appearances with the Diavoli.

It’s the same amount of goals he netted in 37 appearances with Benevento last term, but those were not enough to avoid Le Streghe’s relegation to Serie B.
