Former Inter, Parma, Bologna and Livorno midfielder Ishak Belfodil has reportedly been arrested for attempting to strangle his little sister.

According to AFP news agency, Belfodil was placed under arrest in Elancourt, near Paris, following the attack on his 15-year-old sibling.

It is claimed they were having an argument that turned violent when he clutched her around the throat.

The 31-year-old is currently playing for Al-Gharafa in the Qatar Stars League, where he moved in the summer of 2022.

Serie A fans will remember Belfodil from his time in Italy, largely from 2012 to 2015, when he wore the jerseys of Bologna, Parma, Inter and Livorno.

The player made 89 appearances in Serie A for these clubs, contributing nine goals and nine assists.

He initially played at youth level for France, the country of his birth, before switching allegiance to Algeria in 2013.

With them he amassed 19 senior caps and two goals.
