Il Corriere dello Sport wrote that Milan coach Paulo Fonseca was ‘indefensible’ after a 2-1 loss against Parma on Sunday.

Milan coach Paulo Fonseca is already under fire as the Rossoneri earned just one point in the opening two Serie A games of the season.

Serie A | Parma 2-1 Milan: Player ratings – Pulisic efforts not enough

Italian media blamed several Rossoneri players, but the Portuguese tactician was probably the most criticised. La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport rated Fonseca 4/10, while Tuttosport gave him 5/10.

“The players have their responsibilities, but those of the coach are clear,” wrote Gazzetta.

“The defensive phase is non-existent. Nobody runs back.”

Il Corriere dello Sport’s comment was even more brutal.

“We expected to see a different Milan from Pioli’s. In fact, this is even worse.

“Non-existent defensive phase and lack of ideas in attack. One point in two games. They’re already in crisis.”

The Portuguese coach admitted that Milan’s energy and lack of desire to defend cost them the game at the Stadio Tardini.

Milan’s next Serie A game is against Lazio at San Siro on August 31. The Biancocelesti have three points in two games following one victory against Venezia and a defeat away at Udinese.

5 thought on “Indefensible and worse than Pioli: Milan coach Fonseca blamed after loss to Parma”
  1. Milan did well in friendlies. Why? Part of it is of course they are friendlies. Part of it maybe due to youth players. Get some of them from Futuro. Liberali played so well and then sent to Serie C.

  2. Pioli should’ve been dismissed the season before. Only made top 4 because of the courts. Milan for 2 years have been the definition of superficiality.

  3. The players we brought in are as overated as this poor excuse of a manager.
I give him another 1 month and Milan will sack him! This team won’t improve.
