Milan are switching focus to their midfield after signing Alvaro Morata, working to set up deals for Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic.

The Rossoneri have finally picked up a new striker to replace Olivier Giroud, signing Morata from Atletico Madrid for €13m. He has agreed to a four-year contract, worth around €4.5m net per season plus add-ons.

Milan are now ready to focus on another area of the pitch, planning some changes in the midfield. Ismael Bennacer and Yacine Adli are not part of Fonseca’s plans moving forward and will likely depart in the coming weeks, pushing the club to start working on bringing in reinforcements.

Samardzic and Fofana in Milan sights

Page six of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Fonseca has specifically asked Milan to sign both Samardzic and Fofana this summer, wanting the former due to his flexibility and potential, and the latter due to his physicality.

The Rossoneri want to close the gap to rivals Inter following last season’s Scudetto and are now focusing on completing deals for the two midfielders, needing to find agreements with both Udinese and Monaco.
