The Giallorossi were held to a draw by a late goal from Giacomo Raspadori at the Mapei Stadium and Fonseca’s men slipped up when their rivals got the job done in the other fixtures.

Napoli, Atalanta and Lazio picked up three points, after Milan drew 1-1 with Sampdoria earlier today, but Fonseca still thinks La Lupa can fight for a place in the Champions League.

“Let’s continue to believe,” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia. “Now, let’s think about the Europa League match.

“But we will continue to believe in fourth place.

Roma face Ajax in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, but Fonseca said he was only focused on the game in Reggio Emilia.

“Today, I didn’t make any calculations in view of Thursday,” the coach continued. “I didn’t think about Ajax and I put the best possible line-up to play Sassuolo.”
