Italian reports are confident Paulo Fonseca will sign for Tottenham over the next few days after several in-depth meetings.

According to Sportitalia, the negotiations began in late May, at the same time that Antonio Conte was approached.

Talks intensified this week and he had two in-person meetings with members of the Spurs board of directors.

The former Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk coach is happy with the project presented to him and the contract will run to June 2023, with an option to extend for a further season.

Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia are confident a deal is practically done, as they are down to the details.

Curiously, it’s something of a job swap, because Fonseca was replaced at Roma by Jose Mourinho, who Tottenham fired last month.
