Roma coach Paulo Fonseca highlighted ‘every match is different’ in Italian football, as Serie A ‘is mainly strategic’.
The Portuguese coach moved to the Italian capital from Shakhtar Donetsk and has previously coached Sporting Braga and FC Porto in his homeland.
“I felt good in all the clubs I have been in, even those where I wasn’t very successful,” Fonseca told Quarantena da Bola on YouTube.

“Aside from the results, I have always created excellent relationships with the people who worked with me.”
Fonseca revealed Italian football has lived up to its reputation of being ‘tactical’ and admitted Serie A has taught him to ‘appreciate’ different aspects of the game.
“We have an image of Italian football as a very tactical football and the reality is that it is. Every match is a different story.
“This helps me understand how [Jose] Mourinho’s Inter won. I’ve always been obsessed with ball possession and here I learned to appreciate other moments, such as the attacking transitions.
“The game in Italy is mainly strategic.”
Fonseca added that VAR has helped bring 'truth' to football.
“VAR brought truth to the results. An offside is always offside, even for two centimetres.”
