The Corriere dello Sport claims that businessman Raffaello Follieri has sent a formal proposal to the Friedkin family to buy them out of Roma for €850m.

It is not the first time that Follieri has been linked with a potential takeover of the Serie A side and it is reported that negotiations have been going on for months behind the scenes in America and Britain.

The situation intensified in a face to face meeting between Follieri and Ryan Friedkin in December, then again on March 2.

Based in the Puglia region, Follieri is seemingly the only figure behind the takeover and denied he was backed by Saudi investors.

Notably, the takeover bid is only for the club and does not include the stadium project that is currently being discussed for the Pietralata area of the city.

The Friedkin family purchased Roma from Jim Pallotta in August 2020 for €591m and invested far more over the last three years, including taking them off the stock market, taking the total payment to €817m, according to Calcio e Finanza.
