Sporting director Pasquale Foggia has claimed the resumption of Serie B provides the rebirth of Benevento: “Finally we see the light again.”
Yesterday, Lega Serie B President Mauro Balata confirmed that the second tier in Italy will resume from June 20, parallel to the top tier, whilst the Lega Pro is considering play-offs and play-outs.
After having agreed on the medical protocol, the Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora gave the go ahead for teams to resume activity and Foggia couldn’t be more happy with Benevento sitting 20 points above second-placed Crotone.
“For us it’s like being born again,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “Finally, we see the light again, after three months at a standstill.
“It’s an important sign for us and also for the whole country, because football is a social phenomenon.
“So far, there has only been talk of clearing the positions and economic interests. The passion of the people was put in the background.
“We have to be glad that we start talking about football again. By June 20, the team will be ready. Both mentally and physically.
“We have almost a full month to get back on track, we will do it. We are ready to go and get back to Serie A on the pitch, which is the thing we care about the most.”
