Monaco have raised their price on Youssouf Fofana after the emergence of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, forcing Milan to consider their options.
The Rossoneri have been pushing to reach a deal for the 25-year-old Frenchman for weeks now. They’ve already agreed personal terms with the midfielder and were confident that a deal was on the cusp of being agreed with the Ligue 1 side.
Milan were ready to pay a fixed €14m fee for Fofana and were discussing add-ons with Monaco, but the sudden interest of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid complicated matters, leaving the Italian club in a tough spot.
Milan consider Fofana alternatives
Gianluca Di Marzio and page 15 of today’s Tuttosport detail how Monaco have now decided to raise their price on Fofana to €30-35m, forcing Milan to either increase their offer or switch to a different target.
The Rossoneri’s current ideas are Adrien Rabiot, who is a free agent after leaving Juventus at the start of this month, and Palmeiras star Richard Rios, whose lack of an EU passport would affect the Emerson Royal deal.
