Paris Saint-Germain paid €1m for the one-season loan, with an option to buy for a further €9m.

So far this season, he has played 33 competitive games, contributing two goals and one assist.

With the news that Mourinho will take over at Roma next season, Florenzi could well be ideal for the new tactician.

His versatility has always been his greatest strength, moving from a midfielder to a wide attacker to a right-back or at times even a left-back when needed.

During the Treble-winning season at Inter, Mourinho famously adapted Samuel Eto’o to almost play as a left-back for much of the time, so someone like Florenzi would be perfectly suited to his ideas.
