Alessandro Florenzi believes Roma were able to come back to beat Sampdoria by showing more intensity in their game.

The Giallorossi were 2-1 down to the Blucerchiati at half time of Sunday’s match at Stadio Olimpico, before the start of the second half was delayed due to a hailstorm that flooded the pitch.

“At the end of the first half the pitch was unplayable. I hardly touched the ball,” Florenzi told reporters following the eventual 3-2 victory, sealed by Francesco Totti’s late penalty.

“Later it dried and we got it into our heads that we needed to go back out with intensity, which was what changed the match.

“After three minutes we could already have already been 3-2 up but we had a lot of chances and Viviano made great saves. Well done to him.

“But then we managed to win through our captain’s penalty.”
