Alessandro Florenzi hopes Roma will win the Serie A title with José Mourinho but is still unsure about his future at PSG.
The Special One was appointed Roma coach earlier this week, and Florenzi reacted on social media, liking the Giallorossi’s Instagram post.
“It’s a breath of fresh air for everyone, Mourinho may be one of the coaches with the most experience and personality. One that will be able to control the Roman environment, I hope he can do well,” the Italy international told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Can Roma win the title with the Portuguese in the dug-out?
“As a fan, I hope so. So that I can go to the Circo Massimo to celebrate.”
Florenzi is on loan at PSG from Roma, and his contract with the Giallorossi expires in 2023. He’s been linked with a move to Inter, but what has the future in store for him?
“I’ve been working so much to return to my standards after the injuries. I think I’ve made it. I am working on a psychological level because it is the head that moves the legs,” the 31-year-old said.
“It’s nice to be linked with a top club like Inter, but I do not get distracted by rumours or what the media say.
“I want the pitch to do the talking. I am living this experience with PSG intensely, without too much talking. I want to repay the trust of President Al Khelaifi, Leonardo and Pochettino, who still believes in me. I want to give my best, then we’ll see.
“I knew Mabppé and Neymar are excellent footballers, but it still surprising to see what they can do in training,” Florenzi continued.
“They make difficult things look easy, and only the best footballers can do that. They are also great human beings, with human values that make them true champions.”
The Ligue 1 giants have been eliminated from the Champions League semi-final at the hands of Manchester City.
“I didn’t take it well, like all my teammates,” Florenzi admitted.
“When we met after the Manchester City game, it seemed we were attending a funeral. It’s a good sign, it means the whole group wanted to reach the target.
“Now we must focus on the league and the France Cup, we have high ambitions for the next season.”
What does Florenzi expect from the Euros?
“Mancini was able to make a fresh start, creating a united group. There are many young players, but also experienced ones. We want to do well.”
Which young player would he gamble on?
“Kean has improved so much, especially in terms of mentality, but if I have to pick one, I say Nicolò Barella.”
