Alessandro Florenzi felt Roma “threw away two points and played better than we have done in a long time” after the 1-1 draw at Fiorentina.

“Unfortunately, we threw away two points. I think we played better than we have done in a long time. We’ve had some ups and downs lately, but this time we tried to play our football for 90 minutes,” Florenzi told Sky Sport Italia.

Jordan Veretout’s contentious penalty had given Fiorentina the lead in the first half, but Florenzi volleyed in after a goalkeeping error five minutes from time.

“There was this penalty, which you could give or not give. The referees have a tough job and they make their decisions, which we absolutely accept, it’s not an alibi.

“We should focus on the performance and I think we saw a good Roma this evening. We came here for points and I think we saw throughout the 90 minutes that we did enough to earn them.

“If we play like this and add a little more determination, we can take home many more games.”
