Flamengo are reportedly on the verge of keeping Inter forward Gabriel Barbosa for a fee of around €18m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Gabigol’s representatives met Inter officials on Tuesday and a permanent deal is now close to being struck.

The broadcaster explains the Nerazzurri are prepared to take a loss in the region of €10m on the forward, having spent €29m to sign him from Santos in 2016.

However, the Beneamata would be entitled to a percentage of any future resale.

The 22-year-old managed just two goals in 15 appearances for Inter and Benfica but has regained his form back in Brazil.

He netted 27 times in 53 appearances during a loan spell at former club Santos last season and has since followed up with 25 in 36 games for Flamengo.

His return of 12 goals in as many matches makes him the current top scorer in the Brazilian top flight.
