The first punishments have been handed out to Genoa ultras that orchestrated the weekend’s chaotic scenes at Marassi.

In leading the protests on Sunday that disrupted the Grifone’s League match with Siena, Marco Cobretti and Fabrizio Fileni, the latter of whom has defended their actions today, have been hit with five-year bans.

Requiring their compulsory signature, the duo are the first to be handed orders banning them from attending live sporting events for the next five years.

Both men have been identified via television pictures – Cobretti was seen holding conversation with Giuseppe Sculli, whilst Fileni was pictured next to him.

The head of police in the city has promised that more bans will be handed out once other ringleaders have been picked out from similar images and videos from the game.
