Basel Coach Urs Fischer believes Fiorentina are “under pressure” ahead of their Europa League meeting.

The Viola are currently three points behind the Swiss side in Group I, but Lech Poznan or Belenenses could overtake Paulo Sousa’s side if they lose tomorrow.

“Fiorentina are doing very well,” Fischer acknowledged in his pre-match Press conference.

“They’re a team who keep a lot of possession, but we know they’re under pressure in this game. They’re dangerous in attack, and they don’t compromise in defence.

“Will they use their best team? Yes, but they did well in the first leg too.”

Basel are facing something of an injury crisis, but Fischer will have former Inter defender Walter Samuel at his disposal.

“I’ll send out the best team possible, despite the injury to [Manuel] Akanji. We’re lacking players in midfield, but Samuel is back and training with the team.

“Injuries are part of football, but it must be said that we’ve been particularly unlucky. Enough of these questions about who is unavailable: tomorrow we play Fiorentina.”
